What does research say about
muscle stimulation?
Published research has explored electromagnetic muscle stimulation as a non-invasive approach to aesthetic body contouring. A 2022 critical review examined 20 studies involving 521 patients to better understand the available evidence, treatment areas and limitations.
The abdomen had the strongest evidence base.
The abdomen was the most frequently evaluated area in the review, with 378 participants. Far fewer participants were studied for the buttocks, arms and calves, and the authors noted that the overall quality of the available evidence varied.

The abdomen was studied most.
Of the included participants, 378 were evaluated for the abdomen. Across the included abdominal studies, the review reported increased muscle thickness and reduced abdominal fat thickness following electromagnetic muscle stimulation.
Evidence varies by body area.
Far fewer participants were studied for other body areas. The authors concluded that larger controlled studies are still needed to better establish outcomes for the buttocks, thighs, arms and calves.

This research is relevant to our Body Rejuvenation service because EvolveX includes an electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) modality designed to produce involuntary muscle contractions. The review provides broader scientific context for the use of muscle stimulation in aesthetic body contouring, particularly in the abdominal area.
However, the research reviewed electromagnetic muscle stimulation generally and did not specifically evaluate Sky Beauty's treatment protocol or individual client outcomes. Results can vary, which is why consultation, treatment selection and individual suitability remain important.
